Alien Giraffes

I had so much fun making one of these for Softies for Mirabel that I made three more.
And then these little friends appeared.
They will all be here soon. Or if you are in Perth and want to see them in real life I will taking some to Junior Upmarket on November the 15th.

Softies for Mirabel

It feels like ages since I made one of these little creatures. The original Hector is much loved by Grace and it is always a major catastophe if he is missing at bed time. So I thought I would make one for Softies for Mirabel. A great cause and organised by the wonderful Pip. Thanks Pip!

Half Finished

It has been the week of the half finished project.
Some more bubble quilting on a quilt which just needs binding.

Some of these little creatures which just need stuffing.

A quilt all cut out using Rouenneries by French General.

Piles of fabric to be made into dresses for the girls.
And in big news it seems we have sold our house and bought a new one!

Books

I have been trying to sort books. They keep mutiplying. The state of the dollar against the pound and shopping at the Book Depository isn't helping.
In other news this week:
Linda of Craft Apple is putting together a list of Independent Pattern Designers.
I was stung by a wasp twice last night. Will remember to check pyjama pants for wasps after they have been on the line from now on.
Thinking about Christmas and getting nice wooden toys.
Received some new felt from Winterwood.
Using the new felt to work on doll's faces.

I've written a to do list for Evie for tomorrow:
Don't ride the tractor off the verandah.
Don't run flat out into walls.
Have a nap, a long one, it will make me and Mum feel better.
I rediscovered this fabric in my clean up last week. Love, love this fabric. Two new bags - in the shop soon.

This week ...

Random thoughts from this week.
I love spring and running bare foot on the lawn.

These two quilts are still works in progress, but at least the tops are done and I can ponder how I will quilt them.
There has been a little bit of goccoing and then a little hat making.

A bit of reading. I finished The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Good book. I recommend it.
Not much knitting this week but new knitting needles arrived in the mail today so I can cast on an Ishbel.

Socks

It is very quiet here. Amelia and Grace are at their grandparents house for a few nights and it is just us and Evie. My plan is to sew, dye and craft. Evie might have other plans.
A couple of pictures of finished socks.
This is a No Purl Monkey using my yarn. I just did one sock as a sample and will use the other half of the skein to do something different to show how my yarn knits up. Details on ravelry.
More No Purl Monkeys using Socks that Rock in Duth Canyon. Details on Ravelry.

Lamb Girl

I had plans to make a doll with bias binding hair and wearing an apron yesterday. This is what I ended up with. I just couldn't seem to get the image in my head to translate. I tried ric rac for hair, then ribbon. Didn't work. Thought I'd try piggy tails (the girls are loving those at the moment). Then the apron was not working and the remains of it became a pocket. Which needed a baby. This is the result. I call her lamb girl as she looks like some kind of sheep hybrid. Amelia is convinced she is a kangaroo as she has a pouch. Grace things she is a kind of a rabbit. Evie just yelled at it in a happy way.

I opened the magazine in the paper to find this today. I was just a little excited.

Bags and Yarn

I have 5 minutes to write while everyone else is playing Wii, which I am sure will end in tears in a second.
Some corduroy messenger style bags that are going into the shop.

Decisions, decisions. What to start next. I promised myself that if I finished a pair of socks I can cast on something else. From left there is Socks that Rock, Vesper and Sundara.

Holiday

We are back from a few days away. There was a bit of shell collecting and even a bit of swimming one day. Some bike riding.
Marshmallow eating.

Quite a bit of it by one person. Must remember to never leave the packet unattended with Evie around.
